Bible Verses About Gratitude
Gratitude runs through the whole Bible as a response to God's goodness. These verses call for thanksgiving in every circumstance, not because everything is good, but because God is.
"O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." The psalms repeat it like a refrain, and the apostles turned it into a habit: "In every thing give thanks." Thanksgiving in Scripture is both worship and a way of seeing.
Many people read one of these verses each morning before the news or the notifications. Gratitude, practiced daily, has a way of reshaping the heart.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Bible say about being thankful?
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." The Psalms repeatedly call God's people to give thanks because he is good and his mercy endures forever.
Should Christians give thanks in hard times?
Scripture says to give thanks in every circumstance, not for every circumstance. Paul and Silas sang hymns in prison (Acts 16:25), showing gratitude anchored in God rather than in their situation.
