Frequently asked questions
Is Lucernia free?
Yes. Lucernia is free to download and to use every day: 20 new verses in the feed, one verse explanation and one AI question per day, and up to three notes. Lucernia Pro unlocks the unlimited feed, unlimited explanations and questions, unlimited notes and your full study history.
What is the Lucernia verse feed?
It is a vertical, full-screen feed of Bible verses: swipe up and the next verse appears. The For you feed draws from more than 2,000 hand-checked verses and short passages that make sense on their own, sorted into twelve topics such as hope, peace, strength and prayer. You can try a preview at the top of this page.
Can I read the whole Bible in Lucernia?
Yes. Swipe left to Read and Lucernia takes you through any book of the Bible in order, one verse per card, with your progress through each chapter and book. You can open the whole chapter around any verse at any time.
Which Bible translations does Lucernia use?
Each language uses a public-domain translation bundled in the app: the King James Version in English, the Bible David Martin in French, the Reina-Valera 1909 in Spanish, the Luther Bible 1912 in German, the Riveduta in Italian, the Statenvertaling in Dutch, the Gdańsk Bible in Polish, the Bíblia Livre in Portuguese and the Korean Revised Version (개역한글) in Korean.
Does Lucernia work offline?
Yes. The Bible text ships with the app, so the verse feed, reading mode, your saved verses and notes all work without a connection. Explanations and AI questions need the internet.
How does Explain work?
Explain uses AI to unfold a verse in layers: a plain-language explanation, historical and cultural background, geography, key Greek and Hebrew words, and cross-references. It is a study aid: read the text itself, compare it with the rest of Scripture, and weigh what you read.
Which languages is Lucernia available in?
English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese and Korean. The app follows your phone's language, and you can change it in Settings.
Do I need an account?
No. You can use Lucernia without creating an account or giving your name or email. Your saved verses and notes are kept on your device.
