# Bible Verses About Comfort

Canonical page: https://lucernia.app/bible-verses/comfort/

The Bible does not hurry people through sorrow. Its verses of comfort name the pain honestly and promise God's nearness in it — the Shepherd in the dark valley and the God who is close to the brokenhearted.

## Overview

Paul calls God "the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort," who comforts us in all our troubles. The word behind comfort means to come alongside: not to explain the suffering away, but to stay with the one who suffers.

These verses have been read at bedsides and gravesides for centuries. If you are grieving, let them be words you can borrow when you have none of your own.
